TECHNOLOGY AND ART: LARGE FORMAT VIDEOWALL IN SHOP WINDOW AT PRECIADOS

The Cultural Area of El Corte Inglés resumed 16 years ago the program of artistic interventions in it’s shop windows, as part of the activities carried out at ARCO, the International Contemporary Art Fair.

This year 2020 the Project has the participation of Daniel Canogat with his piece “Scroll”, curated by Paloma Martín Llopis. “Scroll” is a collage of screens that shows a continuous flow of abstract images, generated from the interpretation made by an algorithm of the data contained in the bar codes of the best-selling products of the web in real time.

This large videowall of generative images, formed by more than 80 recycled TV screens, is exhibited in the windows of El Corte Inglés – Preciados as well as on Serrano Street, the large screen of Callao and in La Castellana until next Sunday 1st March.

Ruybesa has been responsible for the supply and installation of AV signal distribution equipment and content players as well as the sequentially configured electrical installation of the shop windows of El Corte Inglés – Preciados designed by Daniel Canogar.

Technology has always offered new expression tools to artists. Currently both disciplines, apparently different, are more related than ever, with technology being an essential piece in the development and evolution of art.
